  1. How many plastic bags do you throw away in a week?

  2. This is so sad. I just wish we could stop it, although unless they make a subsitite for plastic that is affordable, then it will continue on. I going to start recycling now!

  3. Humanity is so blind. I know that retail stores, evil in other words, offer to recycle plastic bags. What exactly does that do? My mom makes a habit of collecting our plastic bags (I see no reason why she still brings some home. I bought her the reusable bags for a reason.) and dumps them in the recycling boxes at Wal-Mart. Does that help in any way?

  4. Madison - I don't think it does... We keep all our plastic bags too, but I found out last night that my mom threw them all away! :O But I don't really think Wal-Mart recycles.

  5. What are some other ways that could really help lower one's carbon footprint?

  6. Bring plastic bags to a recycling site will be better than throwing them into the trash. However, I am sure using reusable bags is a far better option.

As far as reducing our carbon foot print, little steps like turning off the lights when you leave a room or riding your bike to school instead of taking a car will help. Home owners can do bigger things like installing a solar water heater, insulation, energy efficient windows, or low energy lighting.

Other choices might be a little harder to make like living close to where we work or buying products and produce that are grwn/made locally.

As individuals we can make small changes, but the government has the power make more dramatic and far reaching changes with the power of laws. Writing to your political representatives or getting involved in action groups are other ways that could help us preserve our world.
